We should drink two to three liters of quality water daily to
remain properly hydrated. By so doing you will enjoy far greater
overall health than you otherwise would enjoy. A huge percentage of
the overweight problems facing Americans today is due to
dehydration and the false hunger this condition creates. When we
feel hungry, 90 percent of the time what we are really experiencing
is the effect of inadequate hydration or thirst.
In terms of volume over 60 percent of the human body is water, the
brain is composed of 70 percent water by volume, blood is 82
percent water, and the lungs are nearly 90 percent water. In terms
of molecules, water makes up over 99% of the body. All the elements
of the earth that have been formed to create your body are
suspended within lattices of water.
Carbon atoms that help to form you are structurally identical as
carbon atoms that are found within a rock. However, within you the
carbon is surrounded by lattices of water molecules; therefore you
are soft to the touch. A rock is not filled with lattices of water
in which carbon and other elements are suspended and is therefore
very hard. Good health is dependent upon good and proper hydration.
Our water sources are very important and include clean drinking
water, fresh fruits, and vegetables.
There are many desirable and undesirable minerals in our culinary
drinking water. Some of them accumulate in the body over time and
can often lead to goiters, kidney stones, and to the stiffening of
joints, to severe pain, and the overall lessening of mobility.
A friend of mine provided distilled water to the few of us who
worked with him. One day he brought a plastic baggy to work full of
powder. It was one week's worth of minerals, chemicals, and heavy
metals that had been distilled from the water we were drinking. I
was surprised by the quantity of matter we drink without even
knowing it. The matter included in the water we drink must be
processed by the body. Problems occur when intake exceeds the
processing capacity.
In areas of the country where tap water is excessively hard, there
are diseases related to inorganic chemicals that strike members of
the population in larger numbers than in areas that do not have
hard water.
Those fortunate enough to live near naturally occurring springs and
other clean and natural sources of water can benefit by the
nutrients and minerals present in water. A simple test of spring
water can determine whether the content of the water is problematic
or not. Debates rage versus the benefits of this or that kind of
water unit. The best source of water is from fresh fruits and
vegetables. If you do not consume enough fruits and vegetables to
meet your need for water, at the very least drink water that has
been filtered to remove all bacteria and chlorine.
