How many calories are in 1 gram of protein?  I am trying to figure how much protien I should eat a day.  And is it different for plant protien and animal protien?

THANK YOU JIM.  one more question, based on a 2,000 calorie diet how much protein should I eat in one day?  I understand that only 10% should be from animal protein but what is the combined total of protein or is their a number?

Carbohydrates supply 4 calories per gram.

Proteins also supply 4 calories per gram.

Most fats supply 9 calories per gram, although coconut fat supplies 6.8 calories per gram. I'm uncertain whether or not their are other variations that are similar to coconut fat, in other fats or even within different proteins. My nutritional database reflects that these numbers are standard and I am not proficient regarding subtle differences.
