Lime Water

Do you ever want to clear your mind, give your body a break from food, yet need energy to carry out necessary labors of the day? Earlier this week I awoke with a desire to simplify in such a manner so that I could more easily enter into the spirit of the fast, yet be able to meet the demands of life while doing so. A simple drink came into mind and called out to me. Because it was so enjoyable and kept the food part of my life very simple for a couple of days, I want to pass the simplicity and pleasure on to you.

Ingredients
10 to 12 limes, juiced
1 gallon pure water
raw honey to desired sweetness
Some mint leaves (optional)

Instructions
Add juice, water, and honey to blender and blend until honey is well mixed. Add to gallon container and add any additional water needed to fill container. For a nice finishing touch, add some mint leaves into the jug, which will infuse their flavor into the water. Keep it close to you during the day and drink freely! The next time you just need simple for awhile give this a try!

Brother Simmons,

I hope this doesn't seem like I'm looking beyond the mark, but when you juice the limes, do they have to be organic, or do you think since the peel comes off the chemicals do too?

Thanks! Have a happy Sabbath tomorrow!

That is a good question. Whether they are organic or not, perhaps the more germane question is what soil management practices are used in the orchards where fruit is picked? Even organic foods today often do not employ soil management practices that result in the highest quality fruits, and the fruit is almost always picked prematurely.

I love the Back to Eden gardening methods because of the superior soil management practices that create an amazing ecosystem in the soil, which is perfect for growing foods, an art we've all but forgotten in our country. As for your question, I'll do a little looking to see what I can find about the effects of pesticides on citrus. I don't know about absorption into the meat of the fruit. Jim

I have been reading through your page and love it.  I want to start with the cleanse I have ordered your book.   I will say I do not have a juicer I have a blendec blender.  How expensive is a juicer and I always thought that eating the whole carrot blended up was better than throwing away the skins??  Just not sure have any advice?

instead of juicing could i peel and blend them in my blend tec blender?

Sure! There are no hard fast rules with any recipes except one. Adapt to preference and need:)

The citrus juicer we use is the Citristar Juicer. See here for $49 (includes shipping).
