Home of the Food Bowl Solution!

This recipes requires water, salt, fresh whole-wheat flour, and naturally leavened (sourdough) starter. It is optional to add a cup of honey to it if you want to sweeten the bread; however, it is more efficient and you will use a lot less honey if you add the honey to each slice of bread that you want sweetened after it is baked.

To receive Naturally Leavened Starter and User Guide, see NL Pioneer Bread in the right-hand column of this website.

It has been 18 hours and still no activity with my new starter. I don't have any probiotic tablets, but I do have kefir...would a pinch of this help the starter activate? Thanks!

Feed it once every 24 hours for a couple of days. It takes a little while for it to activate from the dry starter powder, unless you have a lot of dry powder.

It took about three days, but my starter finally bubbled! Yeah!!
My poor Kitchenaid mixer did have a tough time kneading a half batch of bread dough, so I'm anxious to see how my first batch of bread turns out today. Thanks again for the help. :)

I have been unable to pull up any of your videos and wondered if I need a special program to be able to watch them on my computer.
I have a San Francisco Style Sourdough Starter and wondered if it would be the same as the leavening you have and if I can follow the same process you use. Does it make a difference when we use ww flour as opposed to the bread flour it calls for in the instructions with the sourdough starter yeast? The packet says it contains "wild yeast" not commmercial yeast.

The recipes for the bread are in the "free" Daniel's Challenge eBook. Just go to the Main Page of this website and click on the download. They are in Kitchen Challenge 5. Best!

Sprouted Wheat Flour leavens very well, so yes you can. All you need is a mature starter to add to the mix.
