My brother-in-law died of this disease. There is not a lot of hope offered that I have been able to find on the subject.
I found an interesting article you may want to read. I don't know if the man is still alive, but if he is, I would do what you can to track him down and talk to him. He has spent 30 years researching the biology of aging. He lived for many years on a 1600 calorie diet, about half what the average American of his size and type live on. His diet is very nutrient dense, which I'm sure means much of that 1600 calories comes from fruits and vegetables. What makes him interesting is that he contracted Lou Gerhigs disease in 2002. If he is still alive, I would assume he could tell you more of value on this subject than perhaps any person alive, first because of his natural passion and interest in anti-aging-- his life's research, and second because I'm sure he has put all he has learned to the test with his own experience with this disease. Please let me know what you learn.
