We are all busy people. We are on the run serving our families, church members, neighbors, and communities. We are planting and weeding gardens, mowing lawns, raking leaves, organizing and beautifying our homes, and serving in sometimes very heavy church callings. Yet, we want to eat healthy and feed our families high-nutrient dishes. Many of us have family members who aren’t willing to change their eating habits. It can be a constant juggle and struggle, but it is not impossible.

Over the years, I’ve picked up a few tips that have helped me with my husband and children. Many of you have learned tricks that have helped you. Perhaps we can help by sharing with each other so we can make this way of eating more practical for everyday eating, for families, for couples, and for singles. Please share any tips you might have. It may be just the thing that will help to smooth the way for someone else.

I look forward to gleaning some of your ideas.

Thanks so much for sharing! My husband is a cheese dowser! Since I no longer buy it, he buys the big Costco bags of preshredded cheese for himself. And then he liberally dowses everything with it. But at least the base of his food is healthy!

It's nice that your husband prepares his own meat. Spares you the temptation to partake.

My husband is very supportive of me in my efforts to prepare healthy meals, but he is not willing to forgo meat in his meals. We are empty nesters with no children at home, so when I prepare a vegan meal, he often will cook some chicken or hamburger that he adds to his portions. He will have several pieces of boneless, skinless chicken breast meat or browned hamburger in the fridge that he can warm over with whatever I have prepared. He also sometimes tops his meals with cheese. I am welcome to live on salads with beans and grains, and fruit, and sometimes he eats them with me - along with a ham sandwich.

The benefit is that he is really getting healthier meals than we formerly had, even with the addition of the meat and/or cheese. It has been a blessing for him, especially since he was diagnosed with diabetes earlier this year. Thanks to Daniel's Challenge he has lost about 10 pounds and is controlling his diabetes with diet successfully.
