One thing I forgot to mention is the stacking trays enable you to rotate your sprouts. For instance, the bottom tray may be freshly soaked and drained. The next tray may be a day or two old. The top tray can be those exposed to sunlight. This way, you've always got a fresh batch in the works.

I've tried using glass bottles but didn't have much success with them. I personally prefer the SproutMaster small stacking trays purchased at Good Earth in Orem, UT. They also carry a larger tray, but I find the smaller ones more than enough. They also come with optional inserts that divide the trays. This enables you to sprout two different kinds of sprouts in the same tray. Mine are small enough that I can set them on the ledge of my kitchen window. The rectangular shape is more space-saving than the round sprouting trays.

The fact that they are plastic carries pros and cons. They are very easy to use. I've had the most success sprouting with these trays. That said, every once and a while I must soak them in diluted bleach solution to remove the stains. (One of the cons of plastic.)
