The biggest thing I have learned with regards to weight loss is that I tend to eat too many grains and legumes. When I manage to limit those, I lose more. Of course it goes without saying that I also eliminate meat. The latest thing I am trying is to cut the grains altogether; but I am not always able to manage that, quite.

I lost about 30 pounds when I first got the OFF book, just following the maintenance diet there; which says more about how badly I was eating before, doesn't it? Then, Thanksgiving and the Christmas season "struck", and I completely blew it, and regained nearly 15 pounds. I have since lost about 8 of those, and have been frustrated that the losses don't come more quickly (I really got excited about the idea of losing more quickly by following the Challenge.) Now, especially with the kick-off of the new and improved Daniel's Challenge, I know better how to apply all those principles for weight loss, and I'm hopeful! If my blog is helpful for you also, then I'm thankful!

Keeping that blog has been helpful for me, because it allows me to track my progress and reinforce what I am learning as I go.

I saw your discussion on the forum about Daniel's Challenge and would like to invite you to be my friend. I am not a diabetic, but have been attempting to follow the Challenge for weight loss for quite some time, with varied results. I have blogged the whole experience on this site, with my conclusions as to what caused me to lose or not lose. It has been a real learning experience for me and I am still figuring it out, but would invite you to be my friend, so you can read my blog. Perhaps it will help you also. I make no claims to special expertise or any unusual experience; I am just a person like yourself, trying to figure all this out and recording how it goes.

PLEASE, don't fast! Diabetics need to maintain stable blood sugar levels, and fasting will not do that.
